Wind Farm Emergency Response
DIA Medical Division has created guidelines to manage medical emergencies inside wind towers in aquatic environments in the presence of polluted atmospheres and fires. Injuries of a nature that requires emergency intervention may occur in these workplaces due to presence of flammable atmospheres, gases, fumes or harmful vapours, excessively high temperatures, lack of oxygen.
The guidelines were created on the basis of incidents relating to malfunctions of mechanical and electrical components of the infrastructure. Confined spaces such as the inside of the tower and the nacelle are areas that can contain a dangerous atmosphere in the event of equipment failure.
This guideline will provide the information and requirements necessary to manage casualty stabilization and evacuation, in accordance with applicable national and international regulations. It is not a substitute for standards or regulations.
