Climate Change and Marine Ecosystem Impact

Climate change – Guidelines

Aquatic environments are undergoing changes due to the increase in emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) and other Greenhouse Gases (GHG) such as methane, nitrous oxide and water vapor resulting from human activities.

These gases lead to rising water temperatures, acidification and deoxygenation of the seas, which cause changes in the circulation and chemistry of the aquatic environment, rising water levels and worsening weather conditions.

The study focuses on the maritime transport sector and the objective was to develop a simulated environment combining behavioral methods and technologies in order to minimize the impact on climate change and ecosystem.

During the design of the simulated environment, various issues relating to open sea transport and maneuvers within ports were taken into consideration.
