Defence

In the defense sector as in other areas in which DIA is involved, it develops information and behavioral documentation to fill gaps in legislation relating to the use of equipment and unmanned vehicles used in various fields. It involves R&D consultants to prepare regulations and standards on the use of robots and unmanned vehicles in collaboration with humans (Cobot interaction regulation). It is an approach to support innovation in the military sector to address hazards and risks, incidents and stakeholder concerns.

DIA addresses various issues encountered by military personnel of the Navy, Army and Air Force both in operational scenarios and during training phases. To reduce injuries and accidents at work caused by human errors, equipment malfunctions, inappropriate behavior, DIA R&D Division develops guidance aimed at informing and instructing personnel to conduct operations and tasks in an effective and safe manner. The documents prepared by the DIA Consultants are created on the basis of the Integrated Safety and Security Programme.

The guidelines and procedures are very useful in various fields, from the management of medical emergencies to work activities on board ships and submarines or aircraft, to the use of equipment and tools such as unmanned vehicles both on land, in water and in the air field. Various operational scenarios are taken into consideration in both aquatic and terrestrial environments, including aerospace, from the health and safety of special forces personnel and other departments carrying out particular tasks, to the safe use of equipment and vehicles such as unmanned systems (UROV, USV, UAS, UGV) and amphibious vehicles.

DIA supports partners and their customers with Performance Testing. The process is carried out at the Training Partner’s operational facility and includes visual inspection and endurance tests designed to reveal faults and improve the technical features ensuring the product is fit for market.
