DIA Medical Division took into consideration the consequences of heavy metal contamination for emergency first responders. The guidelines were developed to control and prevent metal toxicity that occurs during occupational exposure through PPE. The information in the guideline covers choosing, how to wear and use them, and removing them safely.

Furthermore, combinations of PPEs that could improve protection, deterioration of protection caused by modification or wear of PPEs, and training were evaluated.
