Energy and Environmental Security

In 2009, DIA created the Energy and Environmental Security Program to prevent and mitigate acts of sabotage, terrorism and piracy against critical infrastructure. The aim of the program was to initiate an awareness policy for companies and government bodies involved in Oil&Gas and Renewable Energy in aquatic and onshore environments, in remote and hostile areas.

This program is the first attempt to respond to these issues effectively and DIA has done this through training. With the DIA Scientific Division support, specific courses were created, provided by the DIA Training Partners.

Security awareness through training is the most effective security countermeasures.

The program has been structured to encourage constant learning over time, made up of methods and behaviors to update employees on the latest threats and trends. Also essential for organizations that are required to comply with security regulations.

The program aims to protect against external attacks, it does not take into consideration internal security threats of the company or infrastructure. DIA Scientific Division consultants design procedures and guidelines to improve methodologies that should be included as part of any security plan, and be seen as an integral part of the company’s security policy.
